The Н-31 highway is an important artery for humanitarian and military logistics. Every day, thousands of vehicles travel along this route between Dnipro and Kyiv in both directions. Completing this project means strengthening the country’s safety and resilience.
Within the Dnipropetrovsk region, the project includes both the major rehabilitation of existing sections and the construction of a new road. The total length of the route is 77 km, including 18.9 km of major rehabilitation and 58.1 km of new construction.
With the start of the full-scale invasion, the implementation of the project was suspended. At the same time, during 2017–2021, 28.6 km of the new road had already been constructed. Currently, traffic is using the old section, which was not designed to handle the current traffic volume and load. The road surface is significantly worn, so contractors are carrying out routine patch repairs to ensure traffic can continue.
In the spring of 2026, reconstruction and construction works resumed. The new road will have four traffic lanes—two in each direction—and will bypass the settlements of Loboikivka, Petrykivka, Mohyliv, Kytaihorod, Tsarychanka, and Liashkivka.
“The N-31 is an important logistics artery. Moreover, it is located near the frontline. The Dnipro – Tsarychanka – Kobeliaky – Reshetylivka route provides a connection between Dnipro, Poltava, and Kyiv, and is of critical importance for both civilian and military logistics. It also shortens travel time to the southern regions, particularly Zaporizhzhia.
As of today, about 20% of the work has been completed. By the end of the year, we plan to open traffic on the first completed section. Our priority is to ensure uninterrupted traffic on at least two lanes so that logistics can operate without delays and travel time can be reduced by at least one hour,” emphasized Serhii Sukhomlyn, Head of the Agency for Restoration.
The Н-31 is one of Ukraine’s key infrastructure projects. Once construction is completed, the road’s capacity will reach approximately 26,000 vehicles per day, significantly improving transport connectivity between the central and eastern regions of the country.
