WIM System Performance in May: Over 6 Million UAH Collected for the Budget

In May 2026, the WIM automatic weight and dimension control system generated 6.1 million UAH in revenue for the state budget. During this period, Ukrtransbezpeka inspectors issued 495 citations for weight violations totaling 7.1 million UAH. The highest number of violations was recorded in Dnipropetrovsk (68), Vinnytsia (66), and Khmelnytskyi (53) regions.

WIM not only provides additional revenue to the budget but also helps preserve road infrastructure. Automated monitoring allows for the detection of vehicles exceeding permissible weight and dimensional limits, which is one of the main causes of damage to road surfaces and infrastructure.

Weight and dimension control is carried out using special sensors embedded in the road surface. They determine the vehicle’s weight while in motion, while cameras record speed, dimensions, and license plate numbers. The information is then automatically transmitted to the data processing centers of the Agency for Restoration and Ukrtransbezpeka for further processing. The Agency for Restoration implemented the WIM network for round-the-clock monitoring of heavy-duty vehicle traffic, automatic detection of violations without human intervention, and effective protection of roads and bridges from premature deterioration.
