In the Chernihiv region, restoration is underway at one of the social facilities damaged by shelling in early 2022 — “The Forest Fairy Tale” kindergarten.
Its reconstruction is of great importance for the community of over 3,000 residents, as well as for nearby settlements. Currently, preschool children are accommodated by another educational institution, which cannot provide enough places for everyone. At the same time, safety remains a particularly pressing issue: due to frequent air raid alerts in the Chernihiv district, children are often forced to spend a significant part of their school day in shelters.
Restoration of the kindergarten began at the end of 2023. The facade has been insulated and finished, external and internal utilities have been partially installed, walls have been lined with drywall, and interior doors have been installed. At the end of 2024, work was temporarily suspended due to a change of contractor. In August 2025, construction resumed with a new contracting company.
Two floors of the building are undergoing major renovation, and a shelter for 120 people is being arranged in the basement. The project also includes the replacement of all utilities and landscaping of the surrounding area with the installation of new playgrounds.
Currently, interior work includes tile laying, drywall installation, wall and ceiling plastering in preparation for painting, and installation of window sills. At the same time, electrical installation is ongoing, including soldering of junction boxes. Exterior facade works are nearly complete. Installation of playground equipment is ongoing in the adjacent area.
The facility will also include a modern kitchen, a music hall and a sports hall. The reconstruction of the kindergarten is being carried out in compliance with accessibility and inclusivity standards.
