Major repairs have resumed on three bridges on the R-56 highway Chernihiv – Pakul – Slavutych checkpoint – Chornobyl, originally started in 2021 before the full-scale invasion.
Work on these structures began in autumn 2021. At that time, temporary bypass roads were built and the old structures dismantled. In January–February 2022, piling and testing were carried out. During the full-scale invasion, this part of the Chernihiv region was occupied for a month. The bridges were left unfinished.

Completing the major repair of these structures is essential to ensure stable road connectivity between Chernihiv and Slavutych. Temporary bypasses cannot be used long-term, as they pose a risk of accidents.
In 2025, major repairs of the bridges resumed. The supports and monolithic superstructures were constructed. The team then proceeded to pavement works. Waterproofing and the levelling asphalt concrete layer have now been completed. The top asphalt layer will be laid next. We are also repairing the bridge approaches and reinforcing the slopes with gabions. Further work will include installing road safety elements and road marking.
