Today, Ukraine is shaping a new generation of professionals who will take part in the country’s recovery and development. The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (SARDI), with the support of EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2), is launching the “RE:Generation” (“Restoration Generation”) youth internship program.

RE:Generation is an opportunity to gain practical experience in public administration and reconstruction by joining the team at SARDI.
Head of the Agency for Restoration Serhii Sukhomlyn, together with his deputies, HR Policy Advisor, and the heads of the Restoration offices in the Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, held a meeting with the leadership of leading higher education institutions specializing in infrastructure recovery. During the meeting, they presented the objectives of the internship program and emphasized the importance of engaging young people in managing reconstruction processes and implementing innovative tools.

“There is truly an enormous amount of work to be done — from implementing existing projects such as the physical protection of critical infrastructure and the restoration of bridges, roads, and residential buildings, to introducing modern digital tools and new engineering solutions,” noted Serhii Sukhomlyn.
Acting Head of EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2) Taras Sluchyk stated that identifying talented and motivated young people and involving them in the reconstruction process is one of the key priorities of cooperation with SARDI.

Higher education institutions were represented by:
• Oleksandr Hryshchuk, Rector of the National Transport University
• Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Institutional Development at Lviv Polytechnic National University
• Mykhailo Bezuhlyi, First Vice-Rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute
• Ihor Chudyk, Rector of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas
• Oleksandr Kovalchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Development at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture
• Serhii Dziuba, Rector of the Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture
• Anatolii Kovrov, First Vice-Rector of the Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture
The parties signed memorandums of cooperation and partnership in the areas of training qualified young professionals and advancing research and development activities.

As early as this week, applications will open for the first cohort of interns in the “RE:Generation” program. As part of the promotional campaign, the SARDI team will visit leading higher education institutions across Ukraine to present the program to students and invite them to contribute to the country’s reconstruction efforts.
The first intake of interns and their mentorship program will be implemented with the support of EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2).
