The third day of the annual meeting of heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad took place in the Kyiv region, attended by heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions from over 100 countries. The Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba took part in the meeting.

The Head of the Agency for Restoration Serhii Sukhomlyn together with the Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kovalchuk and the Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk showed Ukrainian diplomats the progress of the comprehensive recovery of one of the most affected settlements in the Kyiv region — the village of Borodianka.
The comprehensive approach to recovery takes into account new standards of quality, energy efficiency and digital openness, not just construction. It involves a complete renovation of the housing stock, modernization of infrastructure, laying of new utility networks, development of public spaces, convenient transport stops and digital services, in particular the introduction of electronic tickets and the integration of modern waste management systems.

Special attention is being paid to the restoration of water supply and sewage systems. This involves the construction of new treatment facilities, the modernization of water utility facilities and the provision of high-quality drinking water to residents.
The Head of the Agency for Restoration Serhii Sukhomlyn joined the panel discussion “Rebuilding communities through regional cooperation: challenges and opportunities for the Kyiv region” which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba. He spoke about new approaches to recovery and the support needed along the way.

“Kyiv region is one example of recovery where we already have results. More than 30,000 facilities were damaged here. Dozens of communities were affected during active hostilities. Hundreds of residential buildings, schools, bridges, hospitals and critical infrastructure facilities. But now more than 75% of the damage in Kyiv Oblast has been repaired – that’s more than 23,000 objects. This is the result of the work of the community, the central government, the Agency for Restoration, donors, municipalities and international partners,” said Oleksii Kuleba.
The Agency for Restoration presented the results of the work already completed, in particular an interactive dashboard system that allows real-time monitoring of the status of project implementation: contractors, funding volumes, work completed and plans for commissioning facilities.

“We are developing this and other mechanisms primarily to gain the trust of Ukrainians. But also to gain the trust of the international community. Because their involvement is important for the comprehensive recovery of Ukraine. We hope for the interest of our partners and further cooperation,” emphasized Serhii Sukhomlyn.
