How can students launch a career in the public sector and help rebuild Ukraine? That was the central question at “Career Talk: Your Role in Ukraine’s Recovery”, which brought together around 50 students studying everything from construction and engineering to law, economics, IT, international relations and journalism.
“You don’t have to wait ten years to start making a difference. There are real opportunities to do that today. We want young professionals to join the Agency for Restoration — people who are eager to learn, bring fresh ideas and are ready to take on responsibility. We have major projects, strong teams and challenges that demand fresh thinking. I firmly believe that young people should not simply watch Ukraine being rebuilt. They should play an active part in making it happen,” said Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Agency for Restoration.

Speaking with students, Fedorov discussed major reconstruction projects, the Agency’s work and the opportunities available to young professionals.
The event was organised by the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, together with EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2) and the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports. It aimed to give students a closer look at careers in reconstruction and show them how to get started.

Roman Komendant, Deputy Head of the Agency for Restoration responsible for Digital Transformation, joined journalist Yehor Hordieiev for an open conversation about making early career choices, finding motivation to work for Ukraine and putting academic knowledge into practice on real projects.
Taras Sluchyk, Acting Head of EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2), highlighted the importance of bringing young talent into the Agency:
“The public sector can be an excellent place to begin a career. Young professionals have the chance to contribute to real projects, learn from experienced colleagues and build their skills quickly”.
Students also had the chance to ask questions about public sector careers, internships and professional development. At the Agency’s career stand, they could explore opportunities to get involved and register their interest in future opportunities.
“Both the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports and the Agency for Restoration began operating in 2023. The Agency is working to restore infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks and support Ukraine’s economic development, while the Fund is helping talented young people stay and study in Ukraine and contribute to the country’s recovery. Bringing our two institutions together is both a natural and important step. Today’s event marks the beginning of closer cooperation, creating opportunities for young people to gain practical experience, develop their skills and pursue careers at the Agency for Restoration,” said Yurii Petrushenko, Director of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports.
