Major repairs are underway on the M-09 Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska (towards Lublin) road between Lviv and Rava-Ruska — a key corridor connecting Lviv Oblast with the EU border.

The works are being carried out as part of the Trans-European Transport Network development project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The project covers the upgrade of 62 km of road across two sections and major repairs to 13 bridges.
▪️ Lviv – Zhovkva (27.6 km)
Overall progress has reached 57.7%. Four bridges have already been fully completed, with work continuing on three more. The base and binder courses are 90% complete, while the surface course is 59% complete.
▪️ Zhovkva – Rava-Ruska (34.5 km)
Overall progress has reached 57.6%. Of the six structures along this section, five bridges have already been repaired and reopened to traffic. The base course is 89% complete, the binder course 75%, and the surface course 55%.

At the same time, a full range of road safety infrastructure is being installed in line with national construction standards, including lighting, road markings, safety barriers, traffic islands, pavements, pedestrian crossings and a cycle path.
The M-09 is a strategic highway and a major logistics corridor during the war. With Ukraine’s airspace closed and other routes disrupted, traffic on the road has increased several-fold, and the existing road could no longer cope with the volume of heavy goods vehicles. The upgraded road will reduce travel times, increase capacity and support the economy.
