It was one of the main public spaces for the community in the city before the war. The square is used both as a transport hub and as a center of commercial activity. All buildings and structures were damaged as a result of heavy artillery shelling and fires in March 2022.
Builders have already completed the dismantling of destroyed and damaged objects.

Work is currently underway to install storm drains, reinforced concrete wells, pipes and temporary fencing around the building demolition sites.
The project provides for the partial improvement of the central part of the city, the construction of an access road to the railway station with the arrangement of a bus parking area and the laying of external communication networks located under the roadway.

The reconstruction of infrastructure facilities, buildings, structures, external networks and the adjacent territory of the square in the city of Trostyanets, Sumy region, is part of the first stage of infrastructure reconstruction and is being implemented as part of an experimental project to restore settlements in five regions of Ukraine that have suffered as a result of russia’s armed aggression.
