On the M-19 road from the Chernivtsi city boundary to the transport ring in the village of Magala we are renovating a critical section that is part of the international highway Domanove – Kovel – Chernivtsi – Terebleche. The road has long been in need of renovation due to severe rutting, cracks and general wear and tear. And the daily transit flow, thousands of trucks heading for the EU border, has only exacerbated the situation.
What will be done:
• milling of the worn surface;
• strengthening the foundation;
• laying a new layer of asphalt concrete.
Although the repairs cover the entire section of the road, the work is being carried out in large sections — local segments on each lane. This approach allows for full traffic flow during the work, minimizing inconvenience for drivers.
The repairs are financed from operational maintenance funds, as state funding is significantly limited in the context of full-scale war, and capital repairs are not currently being carried out. The Service for Restoration in Chernivtsi oblast is forced to prioritize: we are first renovating those sections that are critical for safe passage and logistics.
