The restoration work on the “Lisova Kazka” kindergarten began at the end of 2023. During that phase, the building’s facade was insulated and finished, and part of the external and internal utilities were installed. Additionally, walls were covered with drywall, and interior doors were installed. The old playgrounds in the yard were dismantled. However, due to a change of contractors at the end of 2024, construction work was temporarily halted.

In 2025, the project was revised and a new tender was held for the remaining works. Currently, a new contractor is continuing the reconstruction. Specialists are carrying out interior works on the first floor and working on installing a sewage system in the basement.

Overall, the project includes major repairs to the kindergarten, including thermal modernization, lightning protection and the mandatory installation of a shelter. The water supply, sewage, heating and ventilation systems will also be upgraded. The surrounding area will be improved as well — modern playgrounds will replace the old Soviet-era ones. The total area of the premises, including the shelter, is 2,500 square meters.

Background.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, the kindergarten building was damaged by enemy artillery. At that time, russian forces occupied several settlements in Chernihiv district and attempted to advance toward Kyiv. During a massive missile attack and shelling, “Lisova Kazka” sustained damage from shockwaves — windows, walls, the ceiling, roof and utility systems were all affected. To prevent further damage from rain and snow, the local community installed new windows and a roof using its own resources.

In 2023, “Lisova Kazka” was included in the list of facilities to be restored with funds from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. Rebuilding the kindergarten is crucial for Honcharivske — it is the only preschool institution serving the settlement’s 3,000 residents. Before the full-scale invasion, around 150 children attended the facility.
