As part of the reconstruction of the emergency bridge over the Teresva River, demolition works are ongoing. The project concerns the bridge located between the settlements of Bedevlia and Teresva along the H-09 highway Mukachevo – Rakhiv – Ivano-Frankivsk – Lviv.

Specialists have dismantled the reinforced concrete deck of the last span section and partially disassembled the metal trusses on the side structures.

To dismantle this part of the bridge, the contractors carried out riverbed redirection works on the Teresva River. An embankment and a platform for equipment were arranged on the site of the old riverbed.

Traffic on the bridge was closed on July 25, 2023, due to the collapse of part of the span structure. This occurred as a result of a gross violation by a driver who ignored established load limits.

At the time, the bridge had been in operation for over 60 years. It was in an emergency condition, and access was permitted only for vehicles weighing no more than 7 tonnes. The truck carrying sand that caused the collapse exceeded the permitted weight by a factor of seven.

To maintain traffic along the H-09 highway, the Agency for Restoration and Development constructed a temporary bridge from modular structures provided to Ukraine as part of material and technical assistance from the Howard Buffett Foundation.
