In March 2022, the village of Yahidne in the Chernihiv region was under temporary occupation by russian forces. The residential housing and all social infrastructure in the settlement suffered extensive damage.
We are now rebuilding the village as part of a comprehensive, experimental project for the recovery of settlements affected by Russian aggression. In addition to housing restoration, the project includes repairs to the street and road network, construction of a public building with a shelter, development of a potable water borehole, and the creation of a memorial site.

So far, major repairs have been completed on 75 residential houses, with another 13 currently under reconstruction. The scope of work includes roof and façade repairs, foundation insulation, replacement of windows and doors, and more. Each home is assessed individually, depending on the extent of the damage.

Four homes in Yahidne are being rebuilt from the ground up. These new houses are being constructed to match the specifications of those destroyed. The projects include foundation laying, construction of walls and roofs, porches, window and door installation, and a full range of interior works.
Repairs to the village’s street and road infrastructure are 99% complete. This includes road paving, installation of sidewalks, fencing, autonomous lighting systems, and the setup of road safety features. Among the recent improvements is the installation of 12 water wells.
A centralized drinking water borehole is being developed in the village center. The pumping station for the system has already been installed.
Construction of a multifunctional Community Center is underway. The building will include a bomb shelter. An urban park will also be created nearby.
At the local school—where civilians were held hostage during the occupation—we are working on establishing a memorial complex to honor the memory of those events.
