Reconstruction of the canteen began at the end of 2023. Over the course of a year, specialists built the walls and roof of the building, insulated the facade, installed windows and roofing, completed masonry work in the interior rooms, laid external sewage networks, partially installed internal utilities, and began mounting the ventilation system and painting the building’s facade.

At the end of 2024, construction was temporarily halted due to a change in contractor. In May 2025, a new contractor resumed the work.
Currently, we are installing wall and floor tiles inside the building. The largest rooms have already been finished. Electrical wiring and the heating system are also being installed. Around the building, paving work is underway.
After reconstruction, the canteen’s area will be three times larger — approximately 420 square meters. The building will be equipped with a modern fire protection system, a new heating system, ventilation, water supply, power supply and lighting. The reconstruction also takes into account the needs of people with limited mobility — an accessibility lift will be installed.

Background:
The village, located near the approach to Chernihiv, was at the epicenter of artillery and tank battles at the onset of the full-scale invasion. Many private homes and social infrastructure facilities were destroyed. The shockwave and shell fragments damaged the load-bearing walls, enclosing structures, windows and roof of the school canteen.
Ivanivka is the administrative center of a united territorial community. The local lyceum serves children from nearby villages, including the neighboring village of Yahidne.
