In March 2022 russian troops occupied 75% of the Chernihiv region and attempted to break through to Chernihiv. The surrounding villages found themselves in the epicenter of tank and artillery battles. In particular, Ivanivka which is located on the approach to Chernihiv. Residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities suffered significant damage. Among them was the food service facility of the local lyceum. The shock wave and shell fragments damaged the load-bearing walls of the school canteen, enclosing structures, windows and the roof.
Work on the reconstruction of the dining hall began at the end of 2023. Specialists erected the walls and roof of the building, insulated the facade and installed windows and roofing. They also completed the masonry of internal partitions, installed external sewerage networks, carried out part of the work on the installation of internal communications and began installing the ventilation system and painting the facade of the building.

At the end of 2024 work was suspended due to a change of contractor. In May 2025 work resumed. Currently, tiles are being laid in the food service building: the walls and floors in the bathrooms have been completed, and tiles are being laid in the kitchen and technical rooms. At the same time, other interior finishing work is continuing.
After the renovation, the dining hall will fully comply with modern standards for the organization of the catering process in educational institutions. The building will be equipped with a modern fire protection system, a new heating, ventilation, water supply, power supply, and lighting systems. The total area of the dining hall will be three times larger – it is 416 m². The reconstruction also took into account the needs of people with limited mobility, a lift will be installed.
For reference.
The village of Ivanivka is the center of the united territorial community. After the de-occupation of the region life resumed and most people returned home with their children. Therefore, it is important to ensure the normal functioning of educational institutions. Currently, about 150 children from Ivanivka and surrounding villages study at the local lyceum including Yahidne.
