As part of a pilot project, Ajax Systems has provided video cameras to the Service for Restoration and Development Infrastructure in Ternopil Region to improve the monitoring quality of road conditions. This marks the first case of Ajax cameras being installed on national highways in Ukraine.
The video cameras can detect different types of objects — people, vehicles or animals. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the system records only important events, which helps save storage space and enables quick access to relevant incidents.
The cameras are integrated into a single local network. Live video is displayed on a video wall, allowing real-time monitoring of hundreds of cameras simultaneously.
The Service for Restoration and Development Infrastructure in the Ternopil Region has been using video surveillance on national roads for over 15 years, forming a unified network that monitors the condition of the roads and traffic conditions.
Over time, some of the older devices suffered physical wear and damage, making them unable to provide effective and high-quality road monitoring. Due to significant technical issues, some cameras stopped functioning altogether and could not be repaired.
The newly installed Ajax cameras help respond more quickly to situations and events on the roads during daily operations. The Service also cooperates with the State Emergency Service and Police, providing them with necessary video footage when needed.
Currently, 42 cameras are installed at high-risk road sections with heavy traffic — such as descents, ascents and sharp turns. The solution ensures prompt response to incidents, reliable data protection and stable system performance under all conditions.
