In March this year, thanks to the automated Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems, 5.9 million UAH in fines for vehicle weight and dimension violations were collected for the state budget.
The highest number of violations was recorded in three regions:
– Dnipropetrovsk — 33 violations
– Mykolaiv — 25 violations
– Poltava — 23 violations.
WIM systems help automatically detect overloaded heavy vehicles. This intelligent system:
– prevents asphalt pavement damage
– disciplines carriers
– makes road traffic safer.
Weight and dimension control is carried out using sensors embedded in the road surface, which allow the WIM system to measure the weight of each vehicle. Cameras record speed, dimensions and license plates. Violation data is transmitted and processed at the Data Processing Centers of the Agency for Restoration and State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety (Ukrtransbezpeka).
Compliance with weight and dimension standards is not just about fines — it’s about preserving road infrastructure and ensuring traffic safety.
