The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development (SARDI) has successfully completed the first cohort of the “BIM for Project Managers” training program, aimed at strengthening capacity for effective infrastructure project management through modern digital approaches and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Participants included SARDI staff, regional restoration offices, organisations under SARDI’s management, and representatives of contracting companies.

The program was delivered in a blended format and comprised seven modules. It covered key aspects of digital project management in the infrastructure sector, including:
- fundamentals of digital infrastructure project management;
- development of information requirements and data management processes;
- working within a common data environment;
- roles and responsibilities in BIM projects;
- procurement practices in BIM-based projects;
- building effective project teams;
- resource management and coordination across the asset lifecycle.
The knowledge gained, together with practical case studies and developed approaches, provides a strong foundation for further integration of BIM into project planning, coordination, and implementation—including pilot BIM projects within SARDI.

SARDI’s Deputy Head for Digital Development, Roman Komendant, thanked international partners for their support and highlighted the program’s practical value:
“We are grateful to our British colleagues for supporting participants throughout the course and for sharing practical case studies, international experience, and modern approaches to infrastructure project management. This support is critical to strengthening our team’s capacity and advancing digital transformation in recovery management.”
The implementation of BIM remains a key priority in the digital transformation of infrastructure recovery. Training initiatives such as this lay the groundwork for a transition to a modern, data-driven management culture, improved interagency coordination, and project delivery aligned with international standards.
The training program was implemented as part of the introduction of BIM technologies within SARDI. The project is supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with Connected Places Catapult (CPC).
