Zakarpattia

In Zakarpattia region, preparations are at the final stage for the opening of the new international road border crossing “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației” with Romania. The new crossing will reduce the pressure on existing border crossing points and contribute to the development of transport connections with the countries of the European Union.

The minimum necessary conditions for processing vehicles have already been created. At the first stage, the border crossing will operate using temporary modular infrastructure. This will make it possible to start processing passenger cars in the near future without waiting for the completion of the entire construction project.

Work already completed includes:

▪️ access roads, traffic lanes, and control areas have been arranged;
▪️ the banks of the Tisza River have been reinforced;
▪️ electricity, water supply, and telecommunications have been connected;
▪️ infrastructure has been created for the border guard and customs services.

At the first stage, the crossing will operate 24/7 for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tonnes, with a capacity of up to 600 vehicles per day. Once construction is completed, buses and trucks will also be able to pass through the crossing.
The final technical works are still ahead, including the installation of service modules and a video surveillance system, the arrangement of inspection areas, and landscaping of the site. Following their completion, we will officially confirm the facility’s readiness to open.

We remind you: since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has opened four new border crossing points: “Diakivtsi – Racovăț” and “Krasnoilsk – Vicovu de Sus” with Romania, “Nyzhankovychi – Malhowice” with Poland, and “Velyka Palad – Nagyhódos” with Hungary.
