The project involves multi-level construction at km 21+847 of the M-05 Kyiv – Odesa national highway.
What has already been completed?
· Utility networks have been relocated (communication cables, power lines, lighting).
· Drainage systems have been installed (groundwater lowering, stormwater drainage with treatment facilities, culverts).
· On the roundabout and its access/exit ramps: earthworks, base layers, curbs, safety barriers, asphalt pavement, road signs and horizontal markings have been completed.

Tunnel-type overpass (Structure No. 2) – 95% complete
· The span structure on the right carriageway has been installed.
· The span structure on the left carriageway was previously cast by a former contractor.
· Inside the tunnel: waterproofing, retaining walls, sidewalks, anti-corrosion coating, drainage, lighting, asphalt pavement, road signs and markings have been completed. Monolithic slope protection and service stairs have also been installed at the tunnel approaches.
· Above the tunnel and on the M-05 approaches: bridge deck, waterproofing, sidewalks, guardrails, expansion joints (longitudinal and transverse), drainage systems, asphalt pavement, road signs and markings have been completed.
The contract with the previous contractor was terminated at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. When works resumed, the new contractor carried out earthworks inside the tunnel and discovered defects in the concrete span structure on the left carriageway of Structure No. 2, made by the former contractor. Load tests were conducted and showed that residual deformations do not affect the structural integrity. However, to ensure durability, crack repairs are necessary. These can only be carried out after all carriageway structures are completed. A critical condition: no traffic can pass over the left carriageway during this process.
Currently, the contractor is finalizing repairs of the defects in the left span structure and painting the tunnel’s concrete surfaces. These works are expected to be completed by the end of October.

Background: The project documentation was developed under the program to improve road safety and capacity as part of joint projects with international financial institutions (IFIs). It was approved by the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) under Order No. 230 dated June 19, 2017.
