Building a Modern Truck Parking Facility Near the Yahodyn–Dorohusk Border Crossing in Volyn Region

The project is part of the European Union’s EU–Ukraine Solidarity Lanes initiative, aimed at improving transport connectivity, modernizing border infrastructure, and strengthening logistics routes between Ukraine and European countries.

One of the key components of the project in Volyn region is the construction of a modern truck parking area near the Yahodyn–Dorohusk international border crossing point. The project is co-financed by the European Union for up to 50% of its total cost.

The construction is being implemented under the Design and Build approach, which allows project documentation development and preparatory construction works to be carried out simultaneously, accelerating project delivery.

Currently, the design of the future parking area is underway, alongside the preparation of the construction site. The contractor is building temporary access roads, preparing the site for construction equipment, delivering necessary materials, and organizing the construction process.

As part of the project, plans call for the creation of a 13-hectare parking area with 600 spaces for commercial vehicles. The following facilities will be built there:

▪️ Parking and maneuvering areas for trucks;
▪️ Road signs and safety barriers;
▪️ Modern lighting systems;
▪️ Drainage and video surveillance systems;
▪️ Driver service infrastructure, including rest areas, sanitary facilities, shelters, and information boards.

The Yahodyn–Dorohusk border crossing point is one of the most important logistics gateways between Ukraine and the European Union and plays a crucial role in the operation of the Solidarity Lanes. A significant share of international freight transport, Ukrainian exports, imported goods, and humanitarian cargo passes through this crossing.

The implementation of project No. 101122932 – 22-EU-TG-PL-UA Road Border Crossing Points under the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme will help streamline the accumulation of heavy vehicles before the border crossing, reduce pressure on access roads, improve road safety, and enhance the efficiency of international logistics operations.

It is worth recalling that in 2025, within the framework of the same project, two sections of the M-07 Kyiv–Kovel–Yahodyn (towards Lublin) national highway, with a total length of 1.9 km on approaches to the international border crossing point, were comprehensively rehabilitated.

Construction of the parking facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
We express our gratitude to the European Union and our international partners for their support of Ukraine and their contribution to the development of modern border infrastructure.
