We continue our systematic efforts to implement BIM technologies as one of the key pillars of the digital transformation of Ukraine’s recovery and infrastructure development sector. An important component of this process is the development of professional competencies among specialists involved in reconstruction projects.

The second cohort of the “BIM for Project Managers” training program has officially commenced. The program is designed to foster modern approaches to managing infrastructure projects through the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies.
Roman Komendant, Deputy Head of the Agency for Restoration for Digital Development, Digital Transformations, and Digitalization, emphasized that the development of digital competencies is an integral part of BIM implementation and the establishment of a modern project management system for recovery initiatives. According to him, successful digital transformation requires not only new technologies but also professionals capable of effectively using data and digital tools to support managerial decision-making.

Participants in the second cohort include representatives of regional Services for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in oblasts, as well as enterprises operating under the management of the Agency for Restoration. The expansion of the program enables the scaling of BIM competencies across the recovery system, promotes unified project management approaches, and strengthens the institutional capacity of organizations responsible for reconstruction projects.
The program consists of seven thematic modules and combines international best practices with the practical needs of Ukrainian infrastructure projects. Throughout the course, participants will gain knowledge in digital project management, information management, effective collaboration among project stakeholders, procurement processes in digital construction, and the practical application of BIM approaches throughout all stages of an asset’s lifecycle.
The training program was developed jointly by the Digital Construction Office and the British team supporting BIM implementation within the Agency for Restoration. The course is delivered by Olena Bondar, Lead Expert of the Digital Construction Office, moderator and principal lecturer of the program, together with British project experts Juan Rossi and Esther Díez Rojo, who bring extensive hands-on experience in BIM implementation and the digital transformation of the construction sector through international infrastructure projects.
Building a professional community of specialists capable of working according to modern BIM methodologies is an essential component of developing Ukraine’s digital recovery ecosystem and remains one of the key priorities of BIM implementation within the Agency for Restoration system.
The BIM implementation project is being carried out within the framework of the FIRE (Foundations for Infrastructure Recovery) Programme, supported by the Government of the United Kingdom. The programme is aimed at the comprehensive recovery and digitalization of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and is delivered with the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with Connected Places Catapult (CPC) for the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
