Ternopil

Starting from August 6, 2025, due to the commencement of repair works on the bridge over the Hnizna River in the village of Chernykhivtsi, Ternopil Raion, Ternopil Oblast, on the national road P-43 /M-19/ – Lanivtsi – /H-02/ (at km 2+441) traffic for all types of vehicles will be suspended.

The old bridge will be replaced with new modular structures to quickly restore traffic provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of Japan’s grant assistance to Ukraine, the “Emergency Recovery Program” project.

The detour of the repair area will be carried out along separate routes for passenger and freight vehicles.

For passenger cars the detour will be via the municipal roads of Chernykhivtsi village, and for trucks – via the local road C200621 “Zbarazh – Staryi Zbarazh”.

At the relevant locations on the M-19 Domanove – Kovel – Chernivtsi – Terebleche (to Bucharest) and P-43 /M-19/ – Lanivtsi – /H-02/ roads we are installing appropriate road signs and temporary traffic management schemes for the bridge detour.

In early June, a truck driver ignored the requirements of a sign prohibiting traffic with a vehicle weight of more than 28 tons. As a result, a part of the bridge was damaged, namely, the girders of the span structure were destroyed. Traffic was partially restricted, which poses a threat to road safety, complicates logistics and access to settlements, social infrastructure facilities, transportation of military and humanitarian supplies, supplies to military units and medical facilities and makes it impossible for transport to function properly.
