Almost UAH 118 million was paid into the state budget in 2025 thanks to WIM

Preserving road infrastructure is not only about repairs, but also about responsible use. The Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) system continues to prove its effectiveness as the primary tool for controlling overloaded trucks.

Thanks to the operation of WIM complexes, the budget is replenished and hundreds of kilometers of roads are protected from destruction. The WIM system records violations of permissible weight and dimensions of trucks, preventing damage to roads and bridges and improving road safety. The Weigh-in-Motion system makes it possible to identify offenders without stopping traffic flow.

According to the results of 2025, almost UAH 118 million in paid fines was transferred to the budget thanks to the operation of WIM complexes. At the end of last year, in particular in December, the highest number of violations was recorded in Kharkiv Oblast — 124, Kyiv Oblast — 74 and Vinnytsia Oblast — 40.

Weight and dimension control is carried out using sensors embedded in the road surface, which allow the WIM system to determine a vehicle’s weight. Cameras record speed, dimensions, and license plate numbers of vehicles. Information on violations is transmitted to and processed by the Data Processing Centers of the Agency for Restoration and Ukrtransbezpeka.

The development of WIM complexes is one of the key priorities of the Agency for Restoration, and we will continue to actively work in this direction. This includes maintaining them in proper technical condition, modernizing existing systems, and installing new ones.
